"Udakam" is Sanskrit for “Water".
My professional life as a Water Resources Engineer revolves around this precious and diminishing commodity that is pitting cities against cities, states against states and countries against countries in what is being referred to as “Water Wars” around the world. At the same time, thanks to the invaluable work being carried out by hundreds of thousands of NGOs, corporations and governing bodies like the UN, the world over, there may still be some light at the end of the tunnel after all. But that requires the challenging task of bridging the communication gap between water professionals at all levels and professionals shaping policies in other areas such as health care, commerce, urban planning, manufacturing and so on while recognizing the diverse cultures of people all over the world.
This blog is an attempt at sharing my thoughts on these issues and thus making this a continuous learning experience for myself and anybody interested.
In addition to water issues, from time to time, you may also see my ramblings on US politics and other international affairs in general.
